4 eggs

1/2 cup shortening

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

1 tbsp baking powder

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp salt

For the Filling:

1/2 cup brown sugar

4 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Glaze:

2 cups powdered sugar

1/4 cup milk

3 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tsp vanilla extract


Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 baking dish.

Cream shortening and granulated sugar. Add eggs one at a time, then buttermilk and vanilla.

Gradually mix in flour, baking powder, and salt.

Pour half the batter into the dish. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over the batter.

Add the remaining batter, swirl with a knife for a marbled effect.

Bake for 30 minutes. Prepare the icing by melting butter and stirring in powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.

Poke holes in the warm cake and drizzle icing over it.

Let cool slightly, then serve and enjoy!
