for bars:

1 1/2 cups soft butter
3 cups of granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
5 large eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp almond extract
5 1/2 c all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 (21-ounce) cans cherry pie filling
To decorate:

1 cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoons of milk

*How to make cherries

Preheat  oven 350 degrees F .Line a jelly roll pan (12" x 17") with aluminum foil. Spraying with non-stick spray. For reservations. In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream butter  also sugar together for 1 to 2 minutes. Adding  salt, eggs, vanilla flavorings and almonds and continue to stirring ingredients are fully mixed.

Adding flour also baking powder and mix until combined. Reserve 1 3/4 cups batter. Rolling out/press rest batter into prepared pan. Garnish with cherry pie. Spoon the remaining amount of dough, cut into small pieces, over the cherry filling. Placing in the oven and bake for 50-60 min or to golden brown.

Removing from oven and place on a wire rack to cool completely. Once cool, prepare the garnish. Whisking  the powdered sugar and milk to smooth and sprinkle over the bars. Cut into 35 squares and serve.
