Amish onion fritters

•½ C. All Purpose Flour
•1 tbsp. cornmeal
•1 tbsp. granulated sugar
•2 tbsp. baking powder
•½ C. Whole milk
•2 C. Chopped onions
•Salt and pepper to taste
•frying oil


Place all the ingredients minus the oil in a mixing bowl and stir until well blended.
Heat ½ to 1 inch of oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat on the stove.
When the oil has reached a temperature of at least 175 degrees, drop the batter into the pan by tablespoonfuls, spreading it out a bit as you go.
Brown the donuts on one side, turn them over and brown on the other before removing them to drain on a wire rack lined with paper towel.
Serving with sour cream or your favorite dip if desire
