Making grits has never been easier with this simple recipe. Made by boiling in a milk mixture and serving with butter, it's a warm dish that everyone loves!

This dish has gone from a humble breakfast to a gourmet main dish garnished with everything from local shrimp to pricey mushrooms and cheese!

Both grits and polenta are corn-based side dishes. While both are made with ground corn (like cornmeal), there are some differences.

What are gravel?
Gravel is a coarsely ground grain made from hard corn or ground corn. The simplest way to prepare the granules is to boil them in water, but they can also be infused with extra flavor by cooking them in a broth or broth.

For creamy grits, cook in milk or half milk and half water. Once the grits are cooked, they are usually mixed with butter, but the variations are endless!

* Ingredients (counts 6 servings):

° 1 cup semolina.
° 3/4 cup sugar.
° 3 cups of whole milk.
° Half a teaspoon extract Vanilla .
° 1 lemon peel.
° 1 cinnamon stick
* To prepare caramel:
° 1 cup of sugar.
° Half a cup of water.
° Lemon juice.

* Preparation :

In a small saucepan or skillet, make the caramel, and put the sugar, water and drops of lemon juice over medium heat, stirring constantly, to the mixture. When it boils, stop stirring and cook until golden, then remove from heat and pour into a large pot or individual molds, set aside.

To prepare semolina, in a saucepan, heat the milk with sugar, lemon peel and cinnamon stick, boil the mix for 3 to 4 min, remove from heat and simmer for 5 minutes, remove the cinnamon stick and lemon peel, put in the saucepan with milk again over medium heat and bring to a boil. Add semolina in the form of rain, stirring gradually.
Cook (while stirring constantly) for 5 minutes or until mixture thickens, then remove from heat, add vanilla essence and mix.

Pour into large bowls or individual molds (previously caramelized), cover with cling film, and cool, then refrigerate until serving.
Unbold on a plate If you prefer, you can serve the dessert with different types of jams, berries, rum raisins, or thin slices of fresh fruit.
